Recently, Fuchun Longmen Sun’s Wuxu Year and the 1836 Anniversary of Emperor Da of Wu Autumn Festival was held in Longmen town, Fuyang District, Hangzhou. More than 200 of Sun’s descendants from all over China came together, offering incense, knelt down, and made solemn offerings to their ancestors.

It is understood that the ancient town of Longmen in Zhejiang is the hometown of Sun Quan, the founder of Eastern Wu during The Three Kingdoms period, and is the largest settlement of Sun Quan descendants in China. Among the local population of 7,000, more than 90% of the villagers are descendants of Sun Quan. In order to commemorate their ancestors, the descendants of Sun have resumed the tradition of the Golden Autumn Festival, which has been stopped for more than 60 years until 2005 and has jointly guarded the family memory that lasted for thousands of years. They dressed in Hanfu (Traditional Han ethnic clothing) and sincerely worshipped with reverence. Accompanied by ancient music, Sun’s descendants mourned with a chapter of rituals and a few cups of thin wine and listened to the Sun’s Family Training to show their gratitude. Among them were children who had just learnt to speak, energetic young men, and many grey-haired old people.

It is reported that the current Longmen Sun’s descendants have been proliferated to the 65th generation of Sun Quan. The oldest generation in the town is the 56th generation of descendants, with an average age of over 80 years old. At the ceremony, Sun Ruisheng, a 56th generation descendant of the local generation, was full of energy. At the age of 92, he held the banner of ‘Weighing the World’ to commemorate the great achievements of their ancestor, Emperor Da of Wu, Sun Quan.

Later, the representatives of the descendants from the other nine generations successively put on the flag to showcase the thousands of family trainings such as Sun’s good deeds and farming and reading. Living in an ancient town together, sharing the same blood, the characteristics of one thousand people with the same surname, ten generations with the same town are vividly displayed in Longmen.

“I am a native of the Longmen, and I am very affectionate about every blade of grass and every tree here. In Longmen, you can meet your family wherever you go.”, Sun Wenlin, vice president of the Longmen Sun Culture Research Association, is the descendant of Sun Quan’s 59th Li generation. He said that Sun’s Family Training affects generations upon generations of grandchildren from all kinds of aspects. The family tradition of filial piety and diligence makes him honor his parents and be frugal. The family training of having gratitude made him remember his ancestors and his duty.

This was not all, at the scene, the reporter also saw many Sun’s descendants from Shandong, Liaoning, Heilongjiang, and other places. Sun Zesheng from Shenyang, Liaoning Province is the secretary general of the Shaoguan Dong Sun Research Association. At 69, he crossed the distance of more than 1,800 kilometers and arrived in Hangzhou late at night on the 27th.

“No matter how far, worshipping one’s ancestors is a must. I have returned every year since I started to worship my ancestor in 2005.” Sun Zesheng said, “The Industrious and Honest is a fine tradition left by the ancestors, and it is also the key to the people that the descendants of future generations are observing. It is the responsibility of every grandchild to carry on the family tradition from generation to generation. I am also strict when it comes to my children doing so.” (End)

New Delhi: RecruiteX – a monthly report on hiring trends by TimesJobs – recorded an overall growth of 23% in y-o-y comparison of hiring at corporates in India. After witnessing an aggressive talent demand in July and August 2018, hiring activities registered a plunge in September 2018. The y-o-y analysis, however, indicates a positive hiring pattern across all the top industries, and Retail topped the comparison chart with more than 30% growth in talent demand from September 2017-2018.

September 2018 registered maximum talent demand (13%) and job share (4%) in the Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals industry. The Retail sector, with a total job share of 3% during the month, recorded the second highest talent demand, followed by the Automobiles sector.

Professionals from Medical, Accounting & Finance and HR were most sought after functional areas in terms of job share in September 2018.

Among key locations, Ahmedabad grabbed maximum job share of 5%, followed by Delhi-NCR, Secunderabad, Chandigarh, Vadodara, Bengaluru, Indore, Pune and Jaipur. Lucknow and Indore were the only cities with a positive talent demand during the month.

The job share surged for freshers by up to 24% but there was a dip in talent demand. Demand for professionals with an experience of more than 20 years saw an increase of 14% with a total job share of 22% in the hiring activities.

New South Wales – Maoneng Australia (Maoneng), one of Australia’s leading solar PV developers and owner of renewable energy assets has reached Financial Close for the 255MWp Sunraysia Solar Farm.

The asset is underpinned by two world class Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) under which UNSW Sydney and AGL Energy (AGL) purchase energy over 15 years.

Maoneng entered into a long-term equity partnership with John Laing for the investment and development of the Sunraysia Solar Farm. In addition, the project has secured debt financing from Nord L/B, ING, Mizuho, Bank of China and National Australia Bank (NAB).

Decmil has been appointed as the head contractor for the project under an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contract and will also undertake the project’s operations and maintenance when the solar farm is in operation.

Maoneng will act as both the construction manager during the construction period and the asset manager during operations.

“Sunraysia Solar Farm will be connecting into TransGrid’s 220kV Substation where substation, Transmission and network augmentation work will be conducted by TransGrid through a Build Own Operate and Maintain (BOOM) model,” said Qiao Nan Han.

“The 15-year solar supply agreement with UNSW is the first of its kind in Australia – bringing together a retailer, developer and corporate. “I’ve never seen so many people come to our village!” Fuyang Dongziguan Village, that got famous for the most beautiful rural settlement houses in China, has become a must-visit spot during Golden Week for holding “The Memory of Fuchun River with the best riverside cuisine – 2018 Fuchun River Seafood Feast.”

The event organizers from Dongziguan Village told the reporter that they have anticipated the high visitor volume and have prepared a flexible traffic plan in advance. From 30^th September to the end of the seafood feast on 7^th October, temporary traffic control was taken in Dongziguan, instead, a transfer center was set up in Baizhangfang Industrial Park beside national highway 320, where visitors can take free shuttle bus to the village. As expected, the number of visitors reached 44,800 on 30^th September and exceeded 100,000 on 1^st October in this small village within 1200 residents.

The Fuchun River is not famous for its length nor run-off, but fishery resources. According to the records of Qiantang River Fish Resources, there were as many as 118 species of fish in the waters of Fuchun River. It is not surprising to see bigmouth grenadier anchovies, whose taste is comparable with longtail shad.  

Own to the abundant fishery resources, seasonal treats can be found all the year around. In the past, there was a timetable for eating fish in Dongziguan Village: cabbage perches in January, bigmouth grenadier anchovy in February, mandarin fish in March, shad in April, white fish in May, bream in June, eel in July, barbel in August, goldfish in September, grass carp in October, silver carp in November, and black carp in December.

Freshwater seafood is no doubt the main role of the feast. In the warm-up stage of the event, the organizer of the seafood feast announced a solicitation of best Fuchun River seafood cuisine, that the top 12 cuisine would be decided by online votes and the expert opinions from Fuyang Restaurant Association and the District Fishery Administration. As a result, the list of Fuchun’s Twelve Seafood Cuisines was unveiled at the opening ceremony of the seafood feast on the evening of 30^th September, which referred to steamed white perch, Fuchun River hairy crab, onion oil bream fish, clay pot catfish, steamed fish pot, saltwater shrimp, steamed bigmouth grenadier anchovy, chilli fish head, steamed river eel, steamed tongue sole fish, braised silver sillago, braised grouper and yellow clam snail soup. It was worth mentioning that a special cuisine, steamed river shad, was titled to memorize the extinct shad in Fuchun River.

“Next, we will continue to develop the seafood culture of Fuchun River, promote the seafood cuisine as a brand of Fuyang city, as well as help local people increase income,” said the organizer of the seafood feast.

During the feast, the most enjoyable thing was to witness and taste the first huge pot of best seafood cooked by the village chef. People have already started drooling at the sight of fresh seafood from the Fuchun River put into a 1.5-meter-diameter pot with firewood under it. In Dongziguan Village, not only the chef, almost everyone can cook great tasting seafood because the fish itself is delicious enough after simply steamed or simmered with a bit sugar, garlic, ginger, rice wine, soy sauce and so on. In this picturesque village, it is common to see people enjoy their lunch with fresh fish from Fuchun River and homemade wine, accompanied by river breeze and mountain scenery. This laid-back life style is attracting more and more city dwellers.

The highlight of the seafood feast should be the grand seafood banquet. The hospitable villagers set tables in the old wharf, the garden of Xu’s family, Changtang hall, Dongziguan fish market, the village committee basketball court and some locals’ houses. All the cuisines are made with fresh fish, shrimp, crab and other seafood. Considering the large amount of seafood provided for visitors during the whole feast, the event organizers have ordered a lot of seafood from local fishermen. To guarantee the freshness and good taste, every piece of seafood could be traced to the relevant fisherman. “Visitors are very satisfied, and our business is booming every day.” Said the person in charge of catering business.

Another highlight was the fascinating night view. Visitors could enjoy Changtang moonlit night, one of the eight scenes of Dongziguan. Moreover, a series of entertainments and events were arranged during the seafood feast, including a starry sky reading festival, a small country concert, the Changkou food festival, a Yue opera performance in Yue Shi Temple, Experts Fishing lessons, the Fuchun River fishing exchange meeting, the world champion skipping rope performance from Chankou primary school. Through these colorful events, Dongziguan, the old village of more than 1,500- year history, is refreshing and back to prosperity again.
