From 5 to 15 April 2018, The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) welcomes more than 6,600 athletes and team officials from 71 Commonwealth nations and territories. In this event, Realis exhibits Wireless Large Space Multiplayer Free-Roaming VR experiences by 5th-Generation mobile network technology (5G) and cooperation with partners.
The ecosystem of Wireless Large Space Multiplayer Free-Roaming VR in 5G era
In the 5G network exhibition of GC2018, it aims to provide more possibilities using the 5G connection. There are many ideas of 5G applications such as Artificial intelligence, Virtual Reality and operating robots from long range. 5G connection is ten times faster than 4G. Because of its powerful communication and bandwidth capabilities, concepts such as intelligent cities and UAV network will become realistic once the network is applied. It is well known that Realis’ research results in the 5G wireless large space multiplayer VR technology are obvious. And this time, hand in hand with the network provider partners, the world has once again proved that the changes brought about by 5G are great, and this is a very important step for Realis to start off the overseas market.
Perfect combinations between Wireless Large Space Free-Roaming and VR Driving Simulation
The VR soccer training simulation and driving simulation is perfectly demonstrated in the GC2018 using the Realis Optical Tracking System (RTS) and Wireless Large Space Free-Roaming technologies. In the soccer training simulation, both players use VR to interact with each other. The shooter kicks the ball and the motion of the shooter and the ball are captured and analyzed then sent to the gatekeeper. If the gatekeeper catches the ball, it means that the motion capture is perfect. In the driving simulation, player in the vehicle drives like normal while at the same time controlling the mini car in the sand box. This simulation is a prototype of remote driving and UAV controlling. Both of the simulations require highest level in accuracy and lowest latency. Up on repeatedly testing using 5G connection, it will surely improve the rendering and lower the latency of multi-player wireless VR interaction.
Realis has been committed to the industry of optical motion capture for years. They will release and commercialize full body motion capture this April. This will be the most needed technology in future VR applications. Realis focuses on approaching the Reality and with the maturation and popularization of 5G connection, Realis will bring more technological revolution to us in the future.
