NANJING – April 25, 2018 – To people, food comes first; to food, safety comes first. Thanks to the joint efforts made by the government and people from all the fields, China’s food safety is looking up and showing consistent performance in general. This industry as a whole is heading in the right direction.
The information comes from China(Huai’an) International Food Expo closed on April 21th. The Expo attracted 10 foreign sponsors from Australia, Holland, Japan, South Korea, South Africa, Malaysia and Russia and other countries, as well as a great number of domestic sponsors from Xinjiang, Ningxia, Liaoning, Heilongjiang, etc. Over 20 Global Top 100 companies set up their booths in the Expo, such as General Mills, Wyeth, McCormicK, Want Want, Hershey and Nissin. In addition, more than 100 famous brands in China joined the event, including Yili, Maotai, Shineway, Wuliangye, China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Corporation and Wahaha to name a few. Alibaba, in cooperation with E-business brands, also made the presence. The Expo was featured by a harmonious combination of Jiangsu, Chinese and International styles.
This event put a spotlight on food safety. Wang Mingzhu, deputy dean of Board of Experts of the Food Safety Committee of the State Council, noted that the continuous endeavor from all the fields had led China’s food safety onto a healthy and stable track and into a promising direction. Food quality and safety are enhancing, providing people with secure and high-quality food.
Yin Zonghua, vice president of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said China, as a big food producer and consumer, is faced with increasingly diverse needs. The trend is accelerating transformation of the mode of economic development and promoting upgrading of the industrial structure. The 2018 Expo has captivated a large number of prominent companies and brands from abroad and at home, and has proved its ability to meet the needs of the public, the market and the global trade.
