The 2018 Global Financial Data Discovery Competition (FDDC 2018), which was officially launched on May 18th, have attracted 2500 teams. Contestants are coming from 14 countries, including China, U.S.A, U.K., Canada, France, Germany, Sweden, Australia, Russia, Ireland, Mexico, Singapore, India and Japan.
Many contestants in “Intellectual Race”are students from prestigious universities worldwide. The universities with most registered contestants in China include Peking University, Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), Chinese Academy of Sciences and Zhejiang University. At the same time, contestants from overseas universities, including Yale, Stanford, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Chicago, New York University, University of California, Purdue University, University of Oxford, Imperial College London, The Australian National University, Singapore Management University, and etc., have joined this completion as well.
The competition sets up two topics for contestants: “Revenue Forecast of Public Companies” and “Information Extraction from Public Filings”, aiming to gather and select the financial and AI talents to solve real world financial challenges by taking advantage of big data and advanced algorithms.
Professor Qiang Yang, mentor and judge of FDDC 2018, chairman of the board of directors of the International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI), said that the two competition topics have covered the most important fields of finance, and they were both area of intense studies in financial institutions. The solutions for both topics can greatly benefit the financial and AI world.
FDDC 2018 is currently in progress. With massive financial data and real-world market problems, as well as supervision from world-class financial and technological experts, FDDC 2018 will surely become one of the most influential talent competitions in finance this year.
FDDC 2018 is jointly hosted by the Fintech Committee of the Asset Management Association of China (AMAC), China Asset Management, E Fund Management, DataYes and Alibaba Cloud. Financial guidance is provided by the AMAC and two fund companies, competition-related data and algorithm supports are provided by DataYes, and the competition is running on Alibaba Cloud TIANCHI platform.
