Cai Xukun (Chinese: 蔡徐坤, born August 2, 1998), is a Chinese singer, rapper, DJ, songwriter, model and actor. He is a former member of SWIN-S and is now a member of Nine Percent.
In 2018, Cai participated in the reality show called Idol Producer as an individual trainee. He rose to fame after being on the show and ended up being the first in the show, giving him the “Center” position with a total of 47,640,887 votes. He officially debuted on April 6, 2018 with the group Nine Percent.
Soon after the conclusion of Idol Producer, the television series, I Won’t Get Bullied By Girls was released. Cai played his first lead role as Ye Lin, a boy who is the love interest of Ren Xiaoqin, played by Lu Yangyang. He began filming for this show a year before his participation in Idol Producer.
Cai’s single “I Wanna Get Love” topped the ‘Mainland China C-pop Single Chart ‘ consecutively for nearly 3 weeks from April to May as China’s number 1 single. In an undisclosed interview, Cai said that he was currently writing songs and would focus on composing them after Nine Percent disbands. IKUNS should be expecting a full album in early 2020.
From May 28, 2018 to June 3, 2018, Cai was voted the most influential star in China with fellow Nine Percent members Chen Linong, Fan Chengcheng and Zhu Zhengting placing respectively at 6th, 7th and 8th and placed 2nd in the ‘Top 20 Power Star Chart’ in May 2018 with fellow Nine Percent members Justin and Zhu Zhengting placing respectively at 4th and 12th.
On June 27, 2018, GenShanKou Primary School received donations worth 30 thousand musical instruments and books from Cai.
On July 14, 2018, Xukun announced during Nine Percent’s ‘fan meeting tour’ that he will release three songs and a music video on August 2, his birthday. Each song will be of a different genre: sexy (性感), cool (酷), romantic (浪漫).
The event of Orange Idol is still in progress. As long as ranking first in four chart for two weeks consecutively, the idol can be boarded on the Nasdaq big screen.
