Linking with the world, Cherishing a Dream.The first MCC Mediterranean Champion China (Kunming) opened on August 18th. 24 men’s and women’s football teams from China, Spain, Germany, Denmark, Belgium，etc. with more than 600 players and coaches gathered at Forward International Sports Training Base in Kunming, Yunnan Province. With a history of 18 years,the renowned champion for teenagers of the MNC Mediterranean first opened in Kunming. And the Italy’s legendary star Zambrotta attended the opening ceremony as an image ambassador.

At the opening ceremony, 24 teams at home and abroad appeared on the pitch with the music gathered together. Coming from different countries, they all share the common joy. After the ceremony, Italian legendary Zambrotta, as the image ambassador of MCC Mediterranean Champion China (Kunming), entered the pitch with the championship trophy. At this time, the ceremony reached its climax, representing the transmission and inheritance of football spirit.
Under the guidance of Chinese Football Association and the MNC Mediterranean Organizing Committee, MCC Mediterranean Champion China (Kunming) is hosted by Kunming People’s Municipal Government and Yunnan Sports Bureau, supported by China Sports Futurity Investment (Beijing) Co., Ltd., Chongming County people’s Government, co-organized by Kunming Sports Federation, Kunming Football Association, and Forward International Sports Training Base of Kunming. This championship aims to forge a large-scale international youth football event featuring the highest level , the greatest influence and the most iconic meaning around the world.

At the opening ceremony, Dai Bin, commissioner of Kunming Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Sports, mentioned in her addressing, “I am very glad that MCC Mediterranean Champion China (Kunming) can be settled in Kunming City. Yunnan Province and Kunming City are endowed with rich history, favorable climate and the first-class pitch and facilities. The landing of MCC Mediterranean Champion China (Kunming) will give impetus to the vigorous development of youth football in Yunnan Province and even across the country.”
Albert Vinas, president of MNC Mediterranean Champion (Spain), expressed that he was delighted MNC Mediterranean Champion could come to Kunming, the beautiful city in China. He hoped that MNC Mediterranean Champion would render a bridge between China and Europe, benefiting Chinese youth football players to access to Europe for exchange. In this respect, this big event makes a closer relation between China and Europe in the field of football. In hence, great thanks must be given to China Sports Futurity Investment for providing such an excellent platform. He also said that playing games ranging from U11 to U18 can be realized in MCC Mediterranean Champion China (Kunming) in the future with joint efforts.
This event is officially opened on August 18th and will last for 8 days, with 48 competitions in total. There are 24 teams with over 600 players and coaches participating in the competitions, and more than 200 people serving for the matches. This event will be devided into two groups, consisting of boys’U14 and girls’U13. The boys’ group includes 4 overseas teams and 12 domestic teams, 16 teams in total. The girls’ group is made up of 2 overseas teams and 6 domestic teams, 8 teams in total. Among the 6 overseas teams, there are 4 boys’ teams, namely Valencia of Spain, K.A.A. Gent of Belgium, Brondby I.F. of Denmark, R.C.D Espanyol of Spain and 2 girls’ teams, namely Turbine Potsdam of Germany and R.C.D Espanyol of Spain.
A total of 18 domestic teams will participate in the contest, some of which are from top-echelon football clubs listed in Chinese Football Association Super League and Chinese Football Association China League, such as Luneng Taishan F.C.,Shanghai Greenland Shenhua F.C., Tianjin Teda F.C., Changchun Yatai F.C, Chongqing Dangdailifan F.C. SWM Team and Qingdao Jonoon F.C.. Of these domestic teams, there are also some local men’s and women’s teams like Beinjing F.A., Tianjin F.A.，Qingdao F.A.，and a few youth training clubs including Dalian Istar H&C F.C. and Dalian Huidaxiangyi F.C.. All of these teams represent the top level of domestic football youth training.

Mr. Zambrotta said in an interview that he was very grateful to the organizers for being an image ambassador for the MCC. “I’m astounded by the picturesque environment，the thoughtful arrangements and the pleasing fields for running games of Kunming.” He also expressed, “Young people are the foundation of football. I hope Chinese teenagers will enjoy themselves in football playing and wish the MCC a complete success.”
Guo Xiaowei, one of the organizers of the competition and General Manager of China Sports Futurity Investment, introduced the significance of MCC at the beginning of the interview. The first “C” represents China， the second “C” being Champion; and the“M” being Mediterranean. He also said that China Sports Futurity Investment has a sound corporate social responsibility and regarded promoting the youth sports events as its mission. The company has gained a high degree of recognition in society. The youth football Mediterranean this time, which promotes communication among the best teams of Football Cup of Mediterranean and the elite teams of China and improves less-communicative and low-level status of the youth football games. He also extended his hope for providing teenagers at home and abroad a platform to express themselves, communicate in a free way and give a boost to the development of Chinese youth football playing by means of this event.
