From September 5th to 6th, 2018, sponsored by the Xi’an Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the People’s Government of Xi’an, organized by Financial Office of Xi’an Municipal People’s Government, Administration Committee of Xi’an Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Zero2IPO Group and Xi’an Capitech Co., Ltd., and co-organized by Great Xi’an Industry Fund, Xi’an Capital and Casstar, Global Venture Capital Summit 2018 was held at the starting point of the ancient Silk Road–Xi’an.
The summit reached the highest degree of internationalization among the domestic venture capital activities. People engaged in venture capital investment from the United States, Germany, France, Israel, Japan, South Korea and other countries participated in the relevant forums.
Focus One: Uncovering the Motive Force of Capital, Star Investors Promote Value Investing
On September 5th, at the distinctive opening “Important Lecture in Investment”, on behalf of Xi’an Municipal Committee and the People’s Government of Xi’an, deputy mayor Gao Gao showed warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the arrival of all participants. At the opening ceremony of the Summit on September 6th, the former vice chairman of the National Council for Social Security Fund Wang Zhongmin, founder of Zhen Fund and co-founder of New Oriental Xu Xiaoping, president of Silicon Valley Bank Asia Branch and Bank President of Shanghai Pudong Silicon Valley Bank Dave Jones, managing partner of Cathay Bruno Bézard, president of Shenzhen Capital Group Co., Ltd. Ni Zewang, founder of CreditEase and partner of Sequoia Zhou Kui, and other global well-known investors, representatives of industry associations as well as entrepreneurs gathered in Xi’an and jointly discussed the opportunities of global venture capital investment.
Focus Two: Experts’ Talkfest Guide the New Pattern of Venture Capital
During the Summit, 30 well-known investors from China’s venture capital industry had an earnest talk with member of Standing Committee of Shaanxi Provincial Committee and municipal party secretary of Xi’an Wang Yongkang, vice municipal party secretary and mayor of Xi’an Shangguan Jiqing, member of Standing Committee of Xi’an Municipal Committee and deputy mayor Gao Gao and other municipal leaders.
Focus Three: “Ten Rules for Venture Capital” to Build a New Pattern of Innovation and Venture Capital Development in Xi’an
The Summit proposed the Several Opinions on Xi’an Municipal People’s Government’s Supporting Xi’an National Self-dependent Innovation Demonstration Area to Gather Venture Capital Institutions and Talents (Ten Rules for Venture Capital for short). Ten Rules for Venture Capital will be carried and tried in the National Self-dependent Innovation Demonstration Area, to attract venture capital institutions with international influence and competitiveness.
Focus Four: The Founding of the Global Alliance of Silkroad Venture Capital Investment, A Milestone in the Venture Capital Industry
“Global Alliance of Silkroad Venture Capital Investment” was formally established at the Summit. It was strongly supported by the top investment institutions, including Shenzhen Capital Group Co., Ltd, IDG Capital, Legend Capital, Lenovo Capital and Incubator Group, Northern Light Venture Capital, DT Capital Partners and SB China Capital (SBCVC).
Focus Five: Deepening Cooperation and Implementation, Xi’an’s Departments Achieve Strategic Cooperation with First-line Institutions
At the Summit, Financial Office of Xi’an Municipal People’s Government held a strategic signing ceremony with Shenzhen Capital Group Co., Ltd., Zhen Fund, Sequoia and Joy Capital. In addition, Xi’an Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone also signed with Qianhai Financial Holdings Limited, Shanghai Pudong Silicon Valley Bank and Xi’an Madison Technology Service Co., Ltd. for cooperation. The signing for cooperation was also held between Qujiang New District and Beijing Cathay Asset Management Co., Ltd., as well as between the Economic Development Zone and Zheshang Venture Capital Co., Ltd.
Focus Six: Announcement of Top 100 Xi’an Future Stars 2018
After the strict preliminary assessment by about 160 investors and review by nearly 20 experts for 72 hours, the Summit announced the list of Top 100 Xi’an Future Stars among 1686 participated projects. This activity discovered a number of high-quality enterprises with good growth prospects, high technology content and great development potential and focused on the promotion as well as cultivation of these enterprises, so as to introduce more resources for Xi’an’s economic development.
Focus Seven: Hard Technology + Civil-military Integration + Great Culture, Three Industries Contribute to An Innovative Xi’an
Global Venture Capital Summit 2018 combines the three major characteristic industries of Xi’an–hard technology, civil-military integration and great culture, to talk about Xi’an’s innovation and development with the global venture capital opportunities.
It is reported that this Summit attracted more than 500 honored guest of venture capital industry, over 400 industry media, more than a hundred domestic and foreign industry associations as well as innovation institutions and over a thousand venture capital enterprises, with a total of more than 2,500 audiences. Xi’an presented the current Chang’an in the way of Dreaming about Chang’an–Great Welcome Ceremony in Tang Dynasty which combined the the history of the ancient capital with more than a thousand year and the features of the Silk Road. Global Venture Capital Summit 2018 gathered the world’s leading investment leaders to invest trillions yuan in this rapidly developing city, which provided wisdom for the industry development, won opportunities for Xi’an, and pushed the global venture capital industry to innovate and develop.
